Mitigation banking is a new and profitable approach to satisfy wetland, wildlife habitat
and endangered species protection regulations. Anyone can create, or invest in the creation of, a wetland bank. As-long-as
growth and land development occur, the demand for mitigation banks will increase. In support of this new approach, the federal
government has recently published guidelines that encourage the establishment and appropriate use of mitigation banks.
Environmental Management Partners, LLC (EMP), believes that mitigation banking is an essential component of sustainable
development. Mitigation banking is both an investment opportunity and a means of environmental stewardship that will result
in an eventual net gain in environmental quality. EMP has created a secondary market
where owners of mitigation banks can sell out their entire bank wholesale. Until now, there has not been an alternative for
the owners of mitigation banks to continue to manage their mitigation banks and to hold onto the long-term financial risk
inherent in this lack of diversification. The EMP sell-out option allows the entrepreneurs to take the funds and move on. In 2008 EMP closed on it first two acquisitions in Florida. In 2009 the members of EMP completed the certification
of the Su-Knik Mitigation Bank in the Matanuska Susitna Borough of Alaska. In 2010 the members of EMP completed the certification
of the Skagit Environmental Mitigation Bank in Mount Vernon, Washington. Although we
are now focused on the acquisition of mitigation banks, we will still undertake the full certification of mitigation banks
if the appropriate opportunity arises.
